These days, computers play a significant role in both work and leisure activities, putting our eyes under increased strain. Digital Eye Strain (DES) or Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) can happen if you look at a digital screen for a long time, like your computer at work, your phone at home, or the tablet you use for reading.

Headaches, blurred vision, dry eyes, and neck pain are all familiar symptoms, but luckily there is a way to fix them: computer glasses. These special lenses are made to improve your visual comfort and lessen the negative effects of too much computer time.

1. Adjust the contrast as well as the brightness on the displays, or see if there is a special setting for eye comfort.
2. Consider wearing blue-blocking eyewear. That can really help.
3. There is an application that can be downloaded called F.LUX (https://justgetflux.com/) that your IT group should be able to install that can help work in the background to help ease eye strain.
4. Make sure you are looking away from your screen every 20 minutes for 20 seconds, attempting to refocus the eyes on something 20+ feet away.
5. Consider if there is any direct light source that is uncovered that is within your line of vision that could be causing strain.
6. Contact an eye professional for a checkup.

Line of cyclists on mountain bikes

Cycling is one of the few ways to get around where different parts of your body work together with different parts of the bike to make a single unit. Even small changes can have an effect on the body and how well travel works. So, the bicycle should be matched to the body as a whole.

Ergon, designers and manufacturers of comfortable ergonomic grips, saddles and more, apply these ergonomic principles:

1 Support
The design of the product takes on the form of your body and leads to a better distribution of opposing forces. Unpleasant pressure points and related discomforts are avoided.

2 Comfort
The physiological adaptation of ergonomic products to your body makes it exceptionally user-friendly and comfortable.

3 Optimization
Your joint position, range of motion, and overall posture can be optimized. Misalignments and the associated pains will be corrected or prevented.

4 Control
Different materials with specific properties on the various contact points of the bicycle optimize your contact to the bicycle, thus enabling a better control.

FYI: The 20-20-20 Rule – A Quick Break for Your Eyes

FYI: The 20-20-20 Rule – A Quick Break for Your Eyes

Human Blue Eye

Staring at a computer screen for extended periods can strain your eyes. To combat this, follow the 20-20-20 rule.

Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break to look at something about 20 feet away.

This simple exercise helps relax your eye muscles, preventing fatigue and discomfort. By incorporating this short break into your routine, you can significantly reduce eye strain and improve your overall computer-using experience.
